- Don't get mixed up
Before I talk about Alpine design products, I want to make sure we're all clear on what we're talking about, as there was another company with the name Alpine Designs (with an "S"). This was a different company that was independently owned back in the 60's, and has nothing to do with the brand Alpine design, which is a label privately owned by Sports Authority. This clothing brand is mainly meant for those who venture into the outdoors often. They make apparel for activities such as hiking and backpacking trips. In this article we will only be discussing those products produced by Alpine design of Sports Authority.
- Clothing design
Alpine Design produces clothing for both males and females. Their products are directly geared towards outdoor activities such as hiking or backpacking. Alpine Design is also very commonly known as a "budget brand." That is, it manufactures products for the outdoors man on a budget. I have owned two Alpine Design products so far, a pair of slippers and an Alpine Design hiker tent backpack. The slippers were fairly made and lasted me about 2 months before the sole started to tear out. It only got worse from there, as the sole tore more and more as I wore it. The backpack however, Is a product I still use to this day. It's lasted me a good five years camping trips so far. Their jackets are also well designed. They are made from 100% polyester and provide a decent protection from the elements.
- Product highlights
Though they're considered a budget brand, they certainly have their own strengths in superior product design. In my opinion, their backpacks have always held true. From their various varieties of backpacks, they are constructed with the outdoors-man in mind. The featured Alpine design ruck sack backpack features padded shoulder straps for elevated comfort while on long hikes. It also includes a main compartment with hydration sleeve for a fast and convenient use of your water. This backpack is on the lighter side when it comes to hiking backpacks, and I'll be putting it to the real test and take it on a backpacking trip with me. The backpack isn't really deigned to hold several weeks worth of things for you, but you might be able to carry a weeks worth of essentials. Either way, this is this next Alpine Design product on my list.
- Closing thoughts
Overall, Alpine design delivers what they claim in their advertisements. Their budget material brand products serve their purpose for the time period that they are taken care of. Some products (like pieces of clothing) will last longer than others due to their material design. Either way, if you're heading into the great outdoors and don't have too much to spend on gear, Alpine design could be just the solution for you.
